One of the most visually advanced browser games, Drakensang Online is immediately impressive as soon as the basic character creation section is completed. The Diablo-style top down view shows a world of detail not common for the genre including a variety of different areas, NPCs and other players. Beyond this strength, the game has a number of negatives which sour the entire experience. An overall lack of depth means repetitive fetch quests, limited character classes and a generally grinding approach to gameplay. The largest issue with Drakensang Online is the in-game currency which is used not just for purchasing new skills and items but to actually cast skills during combats. This leads to either mindless grinding or spending large amounts of real money to keep up with other players

Drakensang Online is a great looking game that proves to be shallow once the surface is scratched. The base gameplay is not worth either the time or money to compete at the highest levels, but as a time killer or occasional browser game it is a decent experience mainly due to its visuals.
